Bye Bye Closet!

Ok, so the year has really started out with a bang. Let's recap shall we? It rained into our house for the first 3 days of the year. The 4th day was a "clean-up" day. When I finally returned to work on Wednesday, after being gone for more than a week now, I was there for about an hour and a half and the power went out, for 2 days! I get back to work on Friday and I had to drop off some equipment at my brothers. When I arrived there, I had to use the bathroom. When I try to leave the bathroom, the door handle is stuck and I am locked in the bathroom! So much so that they had to take the outside trim off the door to get me out! What a way to start. I am hoping it can only get better. We are once again having to downsize, with the removal of the closet. I can not believe that we have to pare down even more than we have already, but it's true. So here we go, packing more clothes into more tubs and pretty soon here's what you get!

And look who's trying to "help"! Now let me walk you thru what it will be like in the morning to get ready. Wake up, Good Morning! Go out into the living room and get some clothes, first from the dressers Then from the "closet".

And then back into the bedroom to get dressed! Here is where the closet used to be.

You should see how great it looks. You can now really see how open the whole living room, den, dining room, kitchen is going to look. Fantastic! We have done nothing but have meeting after meeting today! First with our landscape architect. She brought over several concept designs so we could lead her down the right path. She is doing a great job. The front and back are going to look so awesome when we are done. Then the kitchen cabinet guy came over. He is done measuring our kitchen (we've actually ordered the cabinets last weekend! So exciting!), but they have been so great we are having them make our bathroom cabinets. So he came by to measure for those cabinets. In between then I took Whitney to the eye doctor. She has been having a little trouble and we wanted to make sure she was ok and she is! From there we had to run to Van Nuys (beautiful downtown) to pick up all of the faucets we need for all of the baths! The plumber will be here tomorrow to plumb for all of that. We got some beautiful facuets from this place at very reasonable prices! So back from there to meet with the drywall guy! It just goes on and on.....but in a good way. Bright and early tomorrow the window installation crew shows up to install all of our doors and windows, 7am! I said bright and early and I meant it! The next set of photo you will see all the doors and windows in! I am very anxious to see it. Until then..... HD/S: 141

Shimizu Falls!

Now that the storm has passed, we are left with many bubbles of water in our tarp. Some are pretty big and we were very worried that they would burst on their own, but luckily for us they didn't! So today we got to pop some of those to release the water, and what a ton of water it was.

But what a difference a day makes! The sun was out, the house is starting to dry up and we are actually starting to like the place again! We weren't too sure here for a few days. Don't forget to double click on the photos to get a really good look! HD:137

We made it thru!

OMG! It looks like we have made it thru the worst of the storm, extremely ragged but we're still here and we're still dry-ish in our bedroom, the old office and the bathroom! This is tryly amazing because the rest of the house is wet everywhere. Our workers showed up today to see if they could help but there was really nothing to do but watch and maintain. Plus I didn't need them hammering on the inside and bursting any of the water pockets that have built up. It is raining more in our den/old living room area than it is outside. When we went to take a nap after only sleeping for 3 hours last night on of those water pockets burst and the tarp gave way so now it is raining more inside than out but we have it pretty much under control.

Oh yeah and the clothes! We are running out of hooded sweatshirts and sweat pants. And check out the shoes. We're running out of dry shoes.

Happy Fucking New Year...

OK, I'd have to say it's kinda like trying to bail out the Titanic with a Dixie Cup! I guess I spoke too soon on the last blog entry when I said that we had the "day off" because there were too many workers here. Basically the rain started to really come down and all hell broke loose! I went to the local hardware store 3 times in less than 30 minutes for buckets and tarps, a whopping $300.00 dollars worth. Damn that shit adds up fast, oh yeah and doing great on the new years resolution to quick swearing! 8-) just kidding! Like that would work. The security guard at B&B Hardware wanted to know if I was trying to stop all the leaks in Los Angeles. I said no, just my one house! Here is a little snap shot of what we've been dealing with the last 24+ hours........ We've been having a very hard time today with this door. It has been leaking very bad to the point where we are worried about it being ruined! That's a very expensive door that took us an entire day to install. We think we have a handle on it, but we'll see in about a half hour when we go to check on it. I will have to say that considering how hard it has been raining today we have been fairing pretty good. We have to head upstairs about every hour or so to make sure there are no new leaks and empty the buckets from the spots that are. Our next problem is that we are running out of buckets! And anything that you can imagine that we could use to catch water, we have all the way down to the dogs bowls. You gotta do what you gotta do. There's more rain on the way and thundershowers tomorrow, Yipee.......Here's a look upstairs, this is our master bedroom. This is the media room, but most important below this room lies the room that we are currently living in. Needless to say it's one of the most closely watched areas. HD/S/L/WC: 135
